AI Savings Calculator
Enter what you pay now and what the AI replacement costs in money and time. The example inputs below are placeholders, not a recommendation and not results from any project. Replace them with your own numbers.
How the math works
- Monthly gross savings = current monthly expense × share eliminated.
- Annual gross savings = monthly gross × 12.
- Monthly net = monthly gross − AI monthly cost − (maintenance hours × hourly value).
- Annual net benefit = monthly net × 12 (ongoing, no one-time costs).
- First-year net = monthly net × months counted in year one − (setup hours × hourly value) − one-time costs.
- Break-even = (setup hours × hourly value + one-time costs) ÷ monthly net. If monthly net is zero or negative, it never breaks even.
If you untick "count my time", hourly value is treated as $0 in every formula. Figures are rounded to the cent. Taxes, price increases and the risk of errors are not modeled. The full method is on Testing methodology and How we calculate net savings.
Questions
- What is the difference between gross and net savings?
- Gross savings is the expense you stop paying. Net subtracts the AI tool cost and the value of your time: monthly maintenance every month, plus setup time and one-time costs in the first year.
- Why does my time count as a cost?
- An hour spent maintaining an automation is an hour not spent on paid work or with family. You can switch this off under Assumptions if you only want cash figures.
- Is my data stored?
- No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
